This example of a Type 9 Stanley Bailey No. 4 is in very good condition with all period correct parts. It has been lightly cleaned and oiled but retains a nice weathered patina expected on a 120 + year old tool. There are two patent dates cast into the bed behind the frog, and one stamped on the lateral lever (7-24-88) leading me to believe this is an early type 9. The bottom of the sole has a fair amount of nail scratches but the mouth is free of cracks in the corners. Both tote and knob are in good shape and have been cleaned and waxed. Both cheeks of the sole as well as the chip breaker have been stamped with the initials 'O A B'. The 'Q' Trademark blade is nearly full length, is very sharp, and cuts some nice curly shavings out of a slab of black walnut. This plane comes fresh out of Amish country and is available for you to use or displayed. Condition: Used. Category: Collectibles › Tools, Hardware & Locks › Tools › Carpentry, Woodworking › Planes.
