DescriptionFender Japan TL52-120 Extrad 1987 Used Electric Guitar 1987This is a 1987 TL52-120, one of the earliest models in the EXTRAD series, which still holds an overwhelming presence in the vintage market as the pinnacle of Fender Japan's lineup. It boasts extremely luxurious wood specifications befitting a top-of-the-line model of its time, featuring a carefully selected ash two-piece body with an all-lacquer finish and a neck made of stunning flame maple that is sure to catch the eye.The "S" stamp, a testament to its meticulous craftsmanship, can be clearly seen in the neck pocket. This instrument is not just for collection purposes; it's a highly functional, ready-to-use guitar with numerous upgrades designed for optimal performance on modern stages and recordings. The pickups, crucial to the sound, retain the original EXTRAD pickup in the bridge position, while the neck pickup has been replaced with a later Fender Japan pickup, resulting in a more practical, balanced, and modern tone. Furthermore, the electronics, including the pots, jacks, capacitors, and selector switch, have been completely replaced with highly reliable parts, achieving extremely clear control free from crackling or noise. The exquisite resonance of the ash and maple body, honed over time, is faithfully transmitted to the amplifier by the uncompromising, modern circuitry. The frets and nut have been replaced. The current fret life is approximately 80%, with no noticeable dents or dead spots. The neck is straight, with ample truss rod adjustment in both directions, and the nut width is a very comfortable 42mm.The current string height is set at approximately 2.0mm on both the 1st and 6th strings. Combined with a very well-balanced weight of 3.65kg for a Telecaster, this ensures incredibly smooth fingering and confident bending, even in the high positions. While there are signs of use and scratches commensurate with its age, the all-lacquer finish and beautiful flame maple top give it an exceptional presence befitting the pinnacle of Japanese vintage guitars. This is a must-have for players looking for a performance-ready EXTRAD with upgraded parts, as well as anyone seeking a Telecaster that will be a lifelong companion.Fret remaining: 80% Neck condition: Straight Truss rod remaining: Plenty of adjustment range Nut width: 42mm Year of manufacture: 1987s Weight: 3.65kgWe carefully manage our inventory; however, as we also sell in physical stores, there may be a slight delay in updating our stock status.
