Description

View Box of 6 Vtg Shiny Brite Japan Caps Green Glass Torpedo Christmas Ornaments with current marketplace pricing, condition, product images and item details. The glass is structurally sound with no cracks or breaks. Cap Marking and Dating. Size & Measurements:Each ornament measures approximately 4 inches long (inclusive of the metal cap and bottom loop hanger).Cap Marking and Dating:Every single ornament in this set features its original scalloped metal cap distinctly stamped "JAPAN". This indicates this specific run was produced as part of Shiny Brite’s post-WWII sourcing partnerships, mapping their production timeframe beautifully for vintage collectors. The Box and "For Box Sale Only" Significance:The ornaments come housed in their original cream and gold filigree window box, which displays the text "FOR BOX SALE ONLY" across the bottom front panel. Historically, five-and-dime stores (like Woolworth's) routinely opened ornament boxes to sell individual pieces to customers piece-by-piece. Box variants printed with "For Box Sale Only" were specifically shipped by Max Eckardt and Sons to retail outlets with instructions that they must be sold as a single complete unit, rather than broken up. Finding an intact, matching set of 6 torpedo ornaments in its original "For Box Sale Only" packaging is highly desirable.Condition Report:Excellent vintage condition. The glass is structurally sound with no cracks or breaks. The emerald green color remains highly vibrant with gorgeous reflection. Very minor, age-appropriate light surface wear or scuffs to the mercury silvering, All metal caps and loop hangers are present and intact. Original metal hangers in box as well.• Box: The original box is intact. It shows light, expected shelf wear along the edges and corners commensurate with age, but retains a highly clear display window.**Item will be packed with professional care and double-boxed to ensure safe delivery.
