Its fine approximately 10 TPI tooth pattern is consistent with a crosscut hand saw intended for cutting across wood grain and producing a finer cut than a coarse rip saw.The handle retains a round Warranted Superior medallion. Warranted Superior was a widely used quality designation rather than the name of one particular saw manufacturer. Medallions carrying this wording were used by a number of major American saw manufacturers and on secondary or private label saw lines sold through hardware dealers. Because no readable manufacturer blade etching is currently visible, the exact maker of this example cannot be positively identified.The saw appears to date from the traditional American hand saw era and has the construction and hardware commonly encountered on late 19th to early 20th century woodworking saws. This is separate from the cutting edge and should be considered permanent blade damage.
