Ready to put to work with minimal setup — the cutting edge could use a light touch-up sharpening for best performance, but this plane is fully functional as-is. Vintage Gambles Artisan low-angle block plane. "Artisan" was the house tool brand of Gamble Stores (Gamble-Skogmo), a mid-20th-century American hardware and auto-supply chain — this plane was contract-manufactured to their spec, in the classic low-angle block plane pattern (Stanley 60-1/2 style). Lightly used, well cared for — adjustable mouth and depth-adjustment wheel both move freely, body and japanning are solid with no cracks or breaks. Ready to put to work with minimal setup — the cutting edge could use a light touch-up sharpening for best performance, but this plane is fully functional as-is. A great, honest user-grade tool for trimming end grain, fitting joints, or general shop work — not a display piece, a plane meant to be picked up and used.
