SOLEX · SNEAKERS & STREETWEAR · EST. 2017 NIKE SPORTSWEAR — WOMEN’S SPECIAL RELEASE Nike Air Force 1 Fontanka ‘Set To Rise’ LOT · DV2175-100_7 Sail · Light Bone · Summit White · Brand New, Boxed The Air Force 1 walks into a St. Petersburg courtyard and comes back with a lifted sole, a stacked heel and a story to tell. The Fontanka takes its name from the canal-side stretch of St. Petersburg where the Swoosh’s Eastern European design team looked at the 1982 basketball icon and asked what it might become on a different street. The answer keeps the AF1’s soul — the pivot-point outsole, the Air cushioning, the unmistakable silhouette — then reworks it with a chunky, sculpted midsole, a raised heel clip and layered panels that nod to the DIY patchwork of post-Soviet street style. It is a women’s model through and through, cut on a narrower last and built as a design statement rather than a straight retro. This ‘Set To Rise’ edition dresses the Fontanka in Sail and Light Bone, with Summit White holding the midsole and a soft, tonal upper that reads almost like unbleached canvas in daylight. The palette is deliberately quiet — which is exactly what lets the architecture of the shoe do the talking. Worn with wide-leg denim or a long wool coat it disappears into an outfit; worn with tailoring it sharpens the whole line.
