Charles Field in 1858 married Loiuse Alluaud, the granddaughter of the Alluaud porcelain family. In 1876 management of the firm was entrusted to Charles Field Haviland and the name was changed prior to his retirement in 1881. When he retired, the name was bought and has passed down through several firms until the present day. In Mary Frank Gaston's Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain, 3rd edition, the GDA mark (#1) on this set is described as a green underglaze mark (Haviland manufacturer's mark) that was used from 1900-1941. GDA stands for Gerard, Dufraisseix, & Abbot. There is also the red overglaze ribbon decorator’s mark indicating Charles Field Haviland decorating studio with "W" which indicates importer Wanamaker Department Stores of New York. This limits production to 1900-1941. Please view all pictures carefully as they are part of the description.
