I’ve restored this bed rock hand plane to be a fantastic user. I’ve removed light surface rust and tuned it up. The iron has the appropriate “V” logo from 1912-1918. The iron has been squared and honed at a 30 degree micro bevel nice and sharp to 16000 grit with just a touch of camber to prevent plane tracks. The tip of the back of the iron has been honed to 16000 grit using the ruler trick. The chip breaker edge has been flattened to 1000 grit to mate with the iron. The lever cap has the type appropriate key hole and Bed Rock logo. The lever cap has a couple dings and scuffs near the bottom, as pictured. The rosewood tote was missing its horn when I received it, so I repaired it with a piece of Bolivian rosewood. I hand shaped the horn with rasps and files, then hand sanded up to 180 grit, and applied two light coats of shellac. I hand buffed the tote and knob with 0000 steel wool and paste wax. The sole is flat and is in stellar shape. The bed and frog look to have been repainted by a previous owner, but it’s been done pretty well, as pictured. I hand buffed a coat of paste wax onto the whole body of the plane- the sole, cheeks, and bed. This plane is taking nice wispy shavings and is ready for another 110 years of use!Check out my other listings for more planes! Condition: Used.
