This Gucci Fall/Winter 2009–2010 cocktail dress, designed by Frida Giannini, combines a fluid viscose jersey knit with a bold, black velvet graphic. The dress features a blouson bodice with kimono-inspired sleeves and a wide black velvet X crossing both the front and back of the dress, thus utilizing texture instead of pattern or color to create visual interest in this monochromatic design. This Gucci Fall/Winter 2009–2010 cocktail dress, designed by Frida Giannini, combines a fluid viscose jersey knit with a bold, black velvet graphic. The bodice has a wide V-neckline framed by the velvet X. The flowing blouson top is a viscose knit that has a fixed waistband but also has ties on one side to adjust exactly whether it fits at or below the waist. Below the waistband, the dress transitions into a soft pencil skirt made in two layers of jersey, the length of which depends on where the waist is worn. Most of the photos in the listing show it falling to its full size without any adjustment, and the last ones show the ties on the side used to raise the skirt up to the mannequin’s waist. Our mannequin is about a size 4, so these variations are fairly accurate depictions of how the dress would look at different lengths. The interior label identifies the garment as Gucci style 221938 and carries the 2009 production reference. The principal fabric is 100% viscose rayon. Labeled Italian size 38, which is closely equivalent to a US size 2 or 4, more a size 4 in this case. Professionally dry clean.
