The cutter runs the full width of the sole and the mouth is open through both sides, so the plane cuts right to the edge of a board. That makes it a good choice for rabbets, cleaning up shoulders and trimming into corners. The slots through the sides, with a round relief hole in each, are part of the original design and are not damage. The plane is complete. It has a Stanley frog showing an orange "STANLEY" logo, a brass depth adjusting nut, a lateral adjustment lever, a nickel-plated lever cap, and a full-width iron stamped "STANLEY RULE & LEVEL CO." The No. 10 is cast at the toe. The cast iron body has a dark, even patina, and the sole and sides show only light tooling marks and a few tiny pits. I can see no cracks or chips in the casting. The dark wood knob has some scratches and small flecks of paint, and the tote has wear and darkening on top. Both handles are solid and the screws are in place. It has not been restored or altered by me. It will need a cleaning and a fresh edge before use, which most buyers of vintage tools expect. Please study all the photos, which are part of the description, and message me with any questions before buying. Ships carefully packed. Condition: Used.
