Antique Millers Falls No. 1 Hand Drill McCoy Chuck Early 1900s EggbeaterDescriptionAntique Millers Falls No. 1 single-speed hand drill, dating to the early 1900s.This drill has the characteristic screw-type adjustable equalizer bearing used on the Millers Falls No. 1 along with an early McCoy-style springless chuck. The No. 1 was introduced in 1899, and early examples used a black enameled frame and drive gear with this style of chuck. The crank on this example does not show the later Millers Falls star trademark, which began appearing around 1910. Because individual parts could have been replaced during the tool’s long life, I am not claiming a specific production year; it is being described conservatively as an early-1900s example. The wooden side handle appears to be an old replacement and is not being represented as the original factory side handle.Shows substantial age and use with finish loss, surface oxidation, scratches, discoloration, patina and general wear throughout. The wood also shows normal age/use wear. No aggressive cleaning or restoration has been performed. The drill mechanism turns by hand. It has not been professionally serviced, calibrated or otherwise fully tested, so it is being sold as a vintage/antique hand tool in the condition shown. Please review all photographs carefully for the exact condition, construction, markings and included parts.Key details:* Millers Falls No. 1* Single-speed hand drill* McCoy-style springless chuck* Screw-type adjustable equalizer bearing* Black drive gear* Early 1900s manufacture* Likely replacement wooden side handle* Unrestored antique condition Condition: Used.
