It looks to have been abraded, and in an uneven manner, and then a crackle glaze finish was applied. DETAILS:- FRYE VERONICA SLOUCH DISTRESSED GLAZED CRACKLE LEATHER BOOTS, Style #76606-SIZE WOMEN'S 7.5 M -COLOR: chocolate (dark espresso brown with variations in color from light to dark throughout the boot)-MATERIAL: highly distressed abraded glazed crackle leather-Boot is heavily distressed leather with antiqued hardware -Pull on slouch style with belt at top-Goodyear welt construction-Rubber outsole; leather and rubber heel bottomMy own measurements (allow for error!):-Height from floor to top of boot rim (measured from back): ~14.75" AVERAGE (boot is slightly asymmetric at top, so height will vary a bit depending on where you measure)- Height of heel (measured from back from floor to top of heel): ~1 1/8"- Sole length (measured from bottom of sole front toe to back of heel) ~10.5"-Widest area across bottom of sole ~3.75"- *I cannot accurately measure the circumference due to the type of metal tape measure I currently have, but to give you an idea, the circumferenece is ~14.75" when measured ON THE OUTSIDE of the boot at top (do NOT rely on this measurement because it may be off!!!). -YOUR PURCHASE WILL INCLUDE THE BOOTS ONLY, AND THE BOOTS WILL BE CAREFULLY PACKAGED IN A SHIPPING BOX FOR SAFE TRANSITCONDITION:-THIS ITEM IS LISTED AS "PRE-OWNED". The boots have been worn a few times but not a lot (do not remember the exact number of times I wore them), and they are in what I would call excellent condition. You may be surprised by the "excellent" statement, but they are overall not that far from originally purchased. YES, they do look extremely worn because they are supposed to look that way, as this is an INTENTIONAL factory effect by Frye. They are meant to look beat up for a vintage appeal. The leather is HIGHLY distressed. It looks to have been abraded, and in an uneven manner, and then a crackle glaze finish was applied. NO TWO BOOTS ARE THE SAME! Again, this is the intended effect. There are scuffs, scars, marks, variations, and some of the crackle finish has a worn off look. This adds to the unique character of your boots. As for my own usage and how that has affected the condition: ANY time you wear these boots, the distressed leather will show wrinkled areas, some to a pretty heavy extent, and you WILL wear off the glaze finish in these areas and in general over time. You can see where the foot bends because the top of the boot has wrinkles and light areas from loss of the finish. This is the nature of the beast! It does NOT take a lot of wears to accomplish this effect either, so again, I have NOT worn these boots a lot, but they are just highly distressed and the crackle glaze is delicate. It will continue to wear off. You can see that the soles are generally clean, but there is some wear to the heels, which I tried to post close up photos so that you have an accurate idea of how much wear. There's a little wear to the heel taps, but a lot of life left in them, so again, they were not worn a lot! Part of the reason the leather portion on the sole is so scuffed up is because I intentionally scuffed it before wearing! The problem is the leather soles are quite slick, and so I didn't want to bust my rump! I have kept these boots in the original Frye box and stuffed with paper to keep their shape, so they have been well cared for. PLEASE NOTE I am NOT including the Frye box because it's large, and I cannot do this because of high postage costs on top of already a VERY discounted rate for the boots where I am losing a lot of money.
