The Japanese pressing “Casablanca – VIP-9529-30” is a double LP and highly collectible. This album captures KISS at the peak of their popularity, featuring live recordings primarily from their 1977 Love Gun tour. Compared to Alive!, the performances are even more explosive, tighter, and heavier, reflecting the band’s growth and confidence on stage.Notable live tracks include:“Detroit Rock City” – delivered with even more power and speed than the studio version“Love Gun” – a live staple with strong crowd interaction“Calling Dr. Love” – energetic and groove-driven“God of Thunder” – extended and darker, highlighting Gene Simmons’ stage personaOne unique feature of Alive II is the inclusion of a fourth side of studio tracks, recorded specifically for this release:“All American Man”“Rockin’ in the U.S.A.”“Larger Than Life”“Rocket Ride” (featuring Ace Frehley on vocals)“Any Way You Want It”These studio tracks add extra value and variety, making the album more than just a live recording.Regarding the Japanese pressing (VIP-9529-30):Original Japanese double LP releaseComes in a gatefold sleeve, often with obi and Japanese lyric insertMay also include bonus items such as a booklet or merchandise order form (depending on the copy)Known for high-quality pressing and strong soundComplete copies with obi and inserts are especially desirable among collectors and tend to command higher prices on the international market, including eBay.Overall, Alive II captures KISS at their commercial and performative peak—louder, bigger, and more theatrical—making it an essential album for both fans and serious collectors.
