This lighter has been fired; you can see the gray dust inside the case and the wick appears charred. This lighter has been fired; you can see the gray dust inside the case and the wick appears charred. Clean it up a little, throw a new wick and flint in it and call it your daily carry! Or just add it to your collection! You do you! The date code on this lighter is G XIII -- dating it to July of 1997. This comes with the original tin with correct "250CML 484 CML JOE TRNG" labeling for the lighter (TRNG=triangle). I checked the insert, and though I forgot to get a photo of it, it is also marked XIII (1997) date code. The exterior finish is great with only extremely light handling marks. The original paperboard "cigarette pack" outer sleeve is missing. I'm guessing this probably got played with for a short period of time, went back in the box and forgotten about for the next 28 years! It does not spark when you flick it; I'm guessing whoever owned it originally knew about removing the flint for long-term storage (they'll "weld" themselves in if you leave them for a long time without using them, so ALWAYS remove your flints from lighters you're not going to use for a long time or you'll end up having to figure out how to drill them out or just call them a collectible).
